Help establish dedicated mental health support for our UBC student-athletes.
When an athlete suffers a physical injury they receive treatment, but what if that injury isn’t visible to the eye?
One in five individuals is affected by mental health problems, and UBC student-athletes are not immune.
The mental health of UBC student-athletes can be impacted by many factors such as depression, financial stress and eating disorders,
plus they have the added unique pressures that come with having to perform as elite athletes while balancing an intensive academic load.
10% of UBC’s athlete population access counselling services,
compared to just 4% of the general student population.
With support from the Mas Yukawa Foundation, UBC Athletics is moving forward with plans for dedicated mental health support for our UBC Thunderbirds.
In order to secure long-term, on-demand, in-house, dedicated mental health support we need your help to reach our funding goals. Your support will save lives.
Every gift will have an enormously positive and lasting influence on the lives of our UBC student-athletes and give them the tools for a successful and healthy life.
