VANCOUVER, Wash. - The UBC Thunderbirds cross country teams each earned a top 10 finish at the 2009 NAIA Cross Country Championship at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site in Vancouver, Wash.Â
The T-Bird women finished eight overall with 269 points behind the All-American finishes from Sabrina Reeve (19th - 18:49) and Nelly Amenyogbe (26th - 19:10). The T-Bird men were ninth overall with 348 points. Rookie Luc Bruchet grabbed UBC's top individual finish of the competition earning 15th with a time of 25:38.
Cal St. San Marcos took the women's title with 137 points to edge Biola who were second with 140 and Malone who were third witn 163. Shorter's Justyna Mudy took the individual title in a time of 17:30 to easily out distance Jacky Kipwambok's second place time of 17:51. Â
On the men's side, Malone took the overall title with an impressive 44 points. Concordia (Nebraska) was second with 166 and Southern Oregon third at 188. Oklahoma Christian's Silas Kisorio just edged out McKendree's Carison Kemei 24:23 to 24:24 in the men's eight-kilometre race.
