Doug Plumb scored a game-high 26 points as the UBC Thunderbirds downed the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks 88-75 in exhibition action on the road Friday night.

Plumb, who is in his first year at UBC after transferring from UFV, was 8-of-14 from the field and 8-of-9 from the line as he played a team high 38 minutes.
Josh Whyte tallied 13 points in 22 minutes with
Alex Murphy and
Nathan Yu also cracking double figures with 12 and 10 points respectively.
Kale Harrsion led the Golden Hawks with 17 points but was only 6-of-14 from the field. WLU struggled against the T-Bird defence all night, finishing 22-of-63 (34.9%) from the field and a paltry 6-of-41 (14.6%) from downtown. UBC finished the game 30-of-56 (53.6%) but was only 5-of-24 from downtown (20.8%).
UBC took a 19-16 lead and owned a slim 39-37 advantage at the half. The visiting 'Birds pulled away in the third quarter, out scoring Laurier 33-21 en route to a victory in their first CIS pre-season game.
The T-Birds take on the Guelph Gryphons Sunday at 10:00 a.m. before returning to BC. They host Laurentian October 15 in a pre-season game before opening their Canada West regular season against Saskatchewan on October 22 and 23 at War Memorial Gym.
