FAIRBANKS, AK - The UBC Thunderbirds struggled from the floor, finishing 17-of-55 (30.9%) from the field in a 71-53 loss to the Alaska-Anchorage Seawolves on Saturday night to wrap up their two game stint at the 2010 Glacier Classic.
After downing the hosts from Alaska-Fairbanks on Friday 98-85, UBC could not find that same success on offence against the Seawolves.
Josh Whyte led the UBC attack with 22 points on 7-of-13 shooting but he was the only T-Bird to make more than two field goals. UBC was also ice cold from downtown as they were a combined 5-of-28 (17.9%) from beyond the arc.
The Seawolves had no such struggles on offence thanks to a perfect performance off the bench from Travis Thompson. Thompson was a perfect 7-for-7 from the field, including four three-pointers, to go along with a 2-for-2 performance at the charity stripe to lead his team with 20 points. As a squad, Alaska-Anchorage was 27-of-48 (56.3%) from the field and 10-of-23 (43.5%) from downtown.
Up next for the T-Birds is another trip to the USA, this time to Santa Barbara, CA for the Tom Byron Classic hosted by Westmont College. That tournament is scheduled for December 29-30.
