Sophomore sensation St. Pierre named first-team all-star
CANADA WEST - Second-year guard Lia St. Pierre was named a Canada West women's basketball first-team all-star on Wednesday after a breakout season with the UBC Thunderbirds.

Known for her extremely well rounded style of play, the 5-foot-11 guard from Moncton, N.B. finished second on the team in scoring (13.2/game) and assists (3.5/game) and was third in rebounding (4.4/game).

St. Pierre's versatility was displayed by the fact she led the T-Birds in scoring six times, picked up the most assists on six occasions, was the top rebounder three times, and led UBC in steals in three games.

She appeared in all 21 UBC games (including playoffs) and she made 18 starts in her sophomore year.  St. Pierre was UBC's most accurate threat from this floor this season, finishing second in field goal percentage (49.2%), first in three-point shooting (50.0%), and first in free throw shooting (75.0%).

She was joined on the CW first-team all-star squad by league MVP Robyn Buna (SFU), reigning CIS player of the Year Kayla Dykstra (Victoria), and scoring standouts Lindsay DeGroot (Saskatchewan) and Brittany Read (Regina).
