VANCOUVER - With 2010 training camp in full swing and a new coach at the helm, some forgotten UBC Thunderbirds traditions are being revived this season as
Shawn Olson begins his effort to rebuild the school's football legacy.
For the first time in recent memory, the T-Birds have scheduled an alumni game, pitting former players versus the current roster in a friendly preseason exhibition tilt.
The 2010 Alumni Game takes place Saturday August 28, 2010 at Thunderbird Stadium. Kick-off is set for 3:30 p.m. To participate in the contest, contact
Paul Orazietti via

One of Olson's mandates when he took over the UBC program in January was to reengage the alumni of his alma mater.
"We are trying to provide an inexpensive opportunity for our more recent alumni to meet our current team and be involved with the program. It will embody the great spirit of UBC football past and present."
Olson also sees value in the game as his team tunes up for their first Canada West contest the following weekend.
"This is a great opportunity for our players to have a competitive dress rehearsal before our first game. As a player I never really felt comfortable until about halftime of the first game and I don't want this to happen to our players when it counts."
The T-Birds open their season Saturday, September 4 at home against the Alberta Golden Bears. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
