VANCOUVER - Sandy Beveridge, a former UBC standout who graduated in 2003, recently retired from the CFL's Hamilton Tiger-Cats where he was in his eighth season to pursue a career as a firefighter with the Hamilton Fire Department.
Beveridge tallied 124 tackles and 77 special team tackles during his eight-year pro career. The 6-foot-2 safety also had five interceptions, six fumble recoveries, and scored a single touchdown, rumbling 55 yards after scooping up a fumble during the 2004 season.
David Whitely, from Fanhouse.com, has a great feature story about Beveridge's choice to hang up the pads in favour of a different path.
