VANCOUVER - Both UBC Thunderbirds cross country teams have earned spots in the top 10 of the NAIA Cross Country Preseason Coaches' Polls after strong showings last fall at the 2009 NAIA Championships. The men are ranked fifth after finishing ninth at last fall's championship while the women are eighth in the pre-reason poll, matching their result from the 2009 Championships.
Defending National Champion Malone (Ohio) has been picked as the No. 1 team in men's competition, earning 15 of 20 first-place votes. No. 2 ranked Southern Oregon earned the other five first place votes.
In the women's poll, Biola University (Calif.) also garnered 15 first-place votes to out distance no. 2 ranked Cal State San Marcos who tallied six.
