VANCOUVER – Five UBC Thunderbirds women's soccer players were honoured with a place on one of the Canada West's two all-star teams.

The Canada West Universities Athletic Association (CWUAA) announced the 2015 women's soccer all-stars and major award winners Thursday evening at the annual awards banquet in Saskatoon – the site of the conference's Select Six tournament, which opened earlier in the day.

Jasmin Dhanda, UBC Thunderbirds

Aman Shergill, UBC Thunderbirds;
Krista Whittaker, UBC Thunderbirds;
Madison Guy, UBC Thunderbirds
Offensive players:
Taylor Shannik, UBC Thunderbirds

Dhanda bested all Canada West players by recording 62 shots during 14 league games. She finished the year tied for second in goals with eight, a league-best four of which were game winners.

Shergill, Whittaker and Guy were all part of a UBC defence that gave up just eight goals in 14 matches, and recorded seven shutouts. Both Whittaker and Guy started all 14 games for the T-Birds.

Shannik was UBC's lone all-star last year, and earned a place on this year's second team thanks to her play in the midfield. She recorded seven assists this year, second best in the league

It is the second all-star selection for both Dhanda and Shergill, who were both honoured in 2013, their rookie seasons.

UBC earned a bye directly to the semifinal round of the Canada West Select Six tournament in Saskatoon, and will face the Calgary Dinos on Saturday at 9 a.m. for a berth into the league championship game on Sunday.

2015 CIS Women's Soccer National Championship, November 12 - 15. As host, UBC is playing in a
quarter final match-up on Thursday, November 12, at Thunderbird Stadium. Kick off at 7 p.m.
