Make it six straight for the Thunderbirds

KELOWNA, BC – The UBC Thunderbirds won their sixth straight game Sunday afternoon with a 2-0 victory over the UBC Okanagan Heat.

T-Bird striker Jasmin Dhanda, who is now the third all-time leading goal scorer in Canada West history, continued her torrid 2017 season by scoring what turned into the game's winning goal in the 23rd minute.

Midfielder Margaret Hadley, who is also scoring and setting up goals at a prolific pace in 2017, netted an insurance goal in the 83rd minute, to go along with her assist on Dhanda's winner.

Aman Shergill assisted on both T-Bird goals and sits second in Canada West scoring with ten points on the season. In fact, the Thunderbirds boast the top three scorers in the conference, with Dhanda's 13 points leading and Hadley's eight points putting her in a tie for third.

"I'm really proud of the team effort today. Defensively we were very solid staying in a good structure for the outset of the match. The team continues to create great movement to keep our opponents off balance and are motivated to continue to get better," said UBC head coach Jesse Symons. "From back to front we are showing great quality in possession and are getting rewarded in the attacking 3rd."

The Thunderbirds return home for a pair of games against MacEwan on September 29 and a Sunday matinee against UNBC at 1pm on October 1.
