VANCOUVER – Three members of the UBC Thunderbirds rowing program were honoured at the annual Rowing Canada Aviron National Conference, held Jan. 23-27 in Richmond.

Mike Pearce was presented with the RCA Coaching Recognition Award for long-term coaching excellence, athlete and sport development as well as leadership in the sport.
“I am very honoured to receive this award from Rowing Canada considering the capability of the coaches that have won it before me,” said Pearce. “It's always nice to know your peers think you are on the right track.”

Evan Cheng and Max Lattimer were honoured for their outstanding performance at the National Rowing Championships held Nov. 9-11, 2012 on Elk Lake in Saanich. Their pair teamed up to win both the Under-23 and Senior A lightweight pair.
